Welcome to my website!
Hi there! My name is Omotola Thomas and I am a speaker, blogger, Parkinson's disease advocate, and self-proclaimed Reckless Optimist.
In 2016, at the age of 35, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Soon after, I established this blog, ParkinStand®, to share my experiences and to encourage others battling Parkinson's disease... or any other challenges, really. As you look through the blog posts, video diaries, and other content on this site, I am confident you will find something of inspirational value.
For more details on what a ParkinStand® is, it's purpose, and my story, please click "Learn More" below. Click the "Contact" button on the menu to get in touch with me and to subscribe to this site.
To spread positivity and hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.
I believe that, in times of adversity, a strong spirit is the most important weapon an individual can possess.

What is a ParkinStand?
A ParkinStand® is any positive action performed in spite of the mental and physical limitations imposed on a person with a debilitating illness. Broadly put, it is a stand against whatever challenges you are facing.
Many of the #parkinstands you will see from our social media movement are centred around exercise; but a parkinstand is not limited to exercise alone. It could be changing your diet, volunteering, going out with friends, or even reading a book to expand your knowledge.
If it is a positive action taken in the face of challenges, and it makes you feel empowered, it is a parkinstand!
